Credit protection due to unemployment

This policy offers economical support for the Insured´s payment of the credit monthly installments from the first month he/she is fired or the forewarning conclusion in case it exists, provided that they are not provoked by any fraud from the Insured, if he/she is unemployed with employer responsibility.

This coverage offers support up to a maximum of 12 monthly installments, from which there is a deduction of the deductible that corresponds for a month.

  • If the Insured does not accomplish with the six (06) months previous of working continuously with the employer.
  • In case of temporary employees, there will be no coverage in those cases where they have less than six (06) months working with the same employer.
  • The unemployment which is not greater than the deductible period.
  • The employee is unemployed during the carencia period.———–
  • He/she pays the contributions for the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS) as an independent worker.
  • He/she is employed for a definite period and becomes unemployed as a consequence of the termination of the established contract.
  • There is no coverage in public or private positions when the unemployment is because of the contract ending or appointment by a definite period.
  • Resignation, voluntary asking for a fire, or he/she accepts any process of working mobilization or any type of agreement which is established by the parts (employer-employee) for the ending of the working relation.
  • When the Insured retires through any way the up-to-date norm permits.
  • When he/she is fired by the employer without any responsibility.
  • When he/she becomes unemployed due to earthquake, flood or nature phenomena of catastrophic character; civil commotion, vandalism, terrorism activity, war, riots, popular conflicts, rebellion, insurrection, nuclear fusion or fission, use of weapons of any type, in which the Insured participates.
  • He/she suffers a working contract temporary suspension, according to what is established in the Article 74 of the Código de Trabajo.
  • He/she becomes total and permanently disabled.
  • He/she is fired while he/she is out of the Costa Rican territory for more than ninety (90) natural days. This exclusion does not apply if the reason why the Insured leaves the Costa Rican territory is:
  • Because he/she works in a Costa Rican Embassy or Consulate.
  • If the company for which he/she works is registered in Costa Rica and it sends him/her to work with the Headquarters or any subsidiary address abroad.
  • There is not coverage for those cases where there is a relation of blood up to the third relation level and/or affinity between employer and employee, when there is a recurrence of this type in a period less than three (03) years.
  • The non-payments of interests in which the Insured incurs due to delay in his/her financial obligations, do not form part of the coverage, there will be indemnity only for the credit ordinary installments.
  • There will be no coverage for claims when the Insured is affected by   income diminishing.
  • There will be no coverage for claims if the Insured has at least one job by which he/she receives payment by concept of salary.
  • The Insured must give notice in a written way of the claim to the Contractor (Mutual) into the following five (05) days after he/she becomes unemployed. (IF THERE IS DELAY, A JUSTIFICATION IS NECESSARY).
  • Request of the claim signed by the Insured, which must be completed with all the requested information.
  • Photocopy by both sides of the Insured´s identification card.
  • Fired letter with employer´s responsibility.
  • Certification issued by the CCSS that indicates that the Insured has been contributing for this regime, during the last six (06) months.
  • An Insured´s declaration that he/she does not receive any other salary.
