Credit protection due to unemployment

This policy offers economical support for the Insured´s payment of the credit monthly installments from the first month he/she is fired or the ending of the forewarning in case it exists, provided that they are not provoked by the Insured´s fraud, if he/she becomes unemployed with the employer´s responsibility.

This coverage offers support up to 12 installments, but the corresponding deductible for a month is deducted.

  • If the Insured had not been working continually for six (06) months with the employer.
  • In case of temporary employees, there is no coverage for those cases when the employee has worked less than 06 months with the same employer.
  • The unemployment which is not greater than the deductible.
  • When the person becomes unemployed during the Carencia period.
  • When the person contributes to the CCSS as an independent employee.
  • The person is employed for an indefinite period and becomes unemployed as a consequence of the termination of the established contract.
  • There is no coverage in public or private positions when the unemployment is because of ending of a contract or appointment by a definite period.
  • Resignation, or he/she voluntary asks for a fire, he/she chooses the process of a working mobility or any other type of agreement which the parts establish (employer/employee) for the ending of the working relation.
  • When the Insured retires through any way that the up-to-date norms permit.
  • He/she is fired by the employer without employer responsibility.
  • He/she becomes unemployed as a consequence of earthquake, flood or any catastrophic nature phenomena; civil commotion, vandalism, terrorism activity, war, popular riots, rebellion, insurrection, nuclear fusion or fission, use of arms of any type, in which the Insured participates.
  • He/she suffers a temporary suspension of the working contract, according to what is established in Article 74 of the Código de Trabajo.
  • The Insured is declared temporary or total and permanent disabled.
  • The Insured is fired while he is out of the Costa Rican territory for more than ninety (90) natural days. This exclusion does not apply if the reason why the Insured leaves the Costa Rican territory is:
  • To work in a Costa Rican embassy or consulate.
  • If the Company for which he/she works is registered in Costa Rica and it sends him/her to work with the Headquarters or a subsidiary abroad.
  • There is no coverage for those cases where there is family relation up to the third consanguinity relation and/or affinity between employer/employee, when there is a recurrence of this type in a period less than 03 (three) years.
  • Delayed interests in which the Insured incurs by delay in his/her financial obligations, do not form part of this coverage, there is indemnity only for the credit ordinary installments.
  • There will be not coverage for claims when the Insured is affected by any income diminishing.
  • There will be not coverage for claims if the Insured has at least one job which permits him/her to receive a salary.
  • The Insured must give written notice of the claim to the Contractor (Mutual) into the following five (5) days after he/she becomes unemployed. (IF SUCH DOCUMENT IS NOT PRESENTED ON TIME, HE/SHE HAS TO PRESENT A VALID JUSTIFICATION).
  • The claim´s application very well signed by the Insured, which must be filled out with the requested information.
  • Photocopy by both sides of the Insured´s identification card.
  • Fired letter with employer´s responsibility.
  • Certification issued by the CCSS, indicating that the Insured has been contributing for that regime, during the last six (06) months.
  • Insured´s declaration indicating that he/she does not receive any other salary.
